School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T)
To train potential battalion/regiment commanders of all arms and services in tactics and handling of troops in the field. To train young officers of all arms and services as instructors in small arms and in infantry tactics to enable them to command sub-units in the field. To train Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of all arms and services as instructors in commando tactics and counter insurgency warfare including parachute training.
About School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T)
School of Infantry and Tactics (SI&T) is known as the ‘Home of Infantry’. It was raised on 19 March 1973 with Weapon Wing only in the name of ‘School of Infantry’ at Cumilla Cantonment. Later, in 1974 the school was relocated at Jalalabad Cantonment, Sylhet. On 21 January 1974, Tactics Wing was raised and the school was renamed as ‘School of Infantry and Tactics’. In 1982, Special Warfare School was merged as one of the wings named Special Warfare Wing to its organogram. The ‘Bayonet’ mural placed at the main gate resembles the excellence and dignity of Infantry.
Objectives
01
To train Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of infantry as instructors in infantry heavy weapons including Anti-Tank Guided Missile.

To train Junior Commissioned Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of infantry in tactics and platoon leading.

To impart specialized military training to personnel of Bangladesh Army including sister services, overseas students and para military forces.

Junior Command and Staff Course
To train officers of all arms and services with a view to enabling them to command an infantry company and function as Grade-3 Staff Officer in the formation headquarters in both peace and war.
