To impart training to the selected officers and sailors in the field of hydrography, oceanography and cartography.

About Hydrography School

BN Hydrographic School was established on 04 May 1983 with the foundation of BN hydrographic department. The school trains all categories of personnel involved in the field of hydrographic survey. Apart from providing training to BN officers and sailors, the school imparts training to the personnel of other national maritime organizations and overseas students from different friendly countries. The institute remains abreast with the International standards of competence for hydrographic surveyors promulgated by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO).

Objectives

To train officers and sailors for future employment in the hydrographic service as a hydrographic surveyor.

To prepare officers and sailors as hydrographers and survey recorders in BN/ respective Hydrographic Department.

To provide students with a theoretical and practical comprehension of hydrographic and topographic surveying and with the competence and skills to carry out the various hydrographic surveying tasks.

To prepare officers and sailors for understanding of the principles, standard operation and use of hydrographic equipments and software available onboard BN hydrographic ships and units.

To train officers and sailors on hydrographic surveying standards and procedure of bathymetric surveying operation onboard survey ships and boats.

To train officers and sailors on the basics of oceanography and oceanographic equipment.
